Four teenagers were camping beside Lake Bodom when they were attacked during the night. Three were killed and one, Nils Gustafsson, survived with serious injuries. The crime became Finland's most famous unsolved murder case.

Investigation

Police considered numerous suspects across decades. In 2004, Gustafsson himself was charged after renewed forensic analysis, but a court acquitted him, finding that the evidence did not establish guilt. Alternative suspects were never conclusively linked to the scene.

Legal status and legacy

No one has been convicted, and the identity of the attacker remains unknown. The case is officially unresolved.
