Seventeen-year-old Kyllikki Saari disappeared while cycling home from a church meeting in rural Finland. Her bicycle and personal items were found separately, and her remains were later discovered concealed in a bog.

Investigation

The investigation generated several suspects and extensive local searches. Police examined people familiar with the area, but limitations in 1950s forensic methods and contradictory information prevented a conclusive case.

Legal status and legacy

No suspect was convicted. Saari's murder remains one of Finland's oldest and best-known unsolved homicide investigations.
