The killing
Court reporting described Ahmedullah Nazar as having been in a relationship with M.H. for several months. In February 2010, Nazar and Ismael Haji went to the Dubai apartment shared by M.H. and another Uzbek woman. The prosecution said a confrontation developed and M.H. was killed during a planned attack that also involved theft from the apartment.
The surviving flatmate told investigators that she was prevented from intervening. Police later located the two men in Sharjah. DNA evidence from the scene linked both defendants to the attack, according to the published court record.
Trial and retrial
The Dubai Criminal Court convicted Nazar and Haji of premeditated murder and imposed death sentences. The case did not end at the first judgment. In August 2011, the Court of Cassation overturned an earlier appellate decision and ordered a retrial after the defence argued that the death had not been premeditated.
A new Court of Appeal panel again found the killing premeditated in December 2011 and restored the death sentences. This distinction matters because the final archive status rests on the retrial and later cassation judgment, not on a lower-court result that had temporarily been set aside.
Final cassation ruling
On January 30, 2012, Dubai's Court of Cassation rejected the defendants' appeals and upheld the death sentences. Contemporary reporting named the two men as Ahmedullah Nazar and Ismael Haji.
Later that year, the defendants sought relief after the victim's family provided a waiver. The Dubai Criminal Court rejected the request in April 2012. That later proceeding did not erase the murder convictions. The reviewed sources do not establish that the death sentences were subsequently carried out, so this page does not claim an execution date.
