The victim and the meeting in Al Warqa
Contemporary UAE court reporting identified the victim as Adnan, a 25-year-old Emirati who was preparing to marry. Reports described him as having gone to Al Warqa with friends after contact with people connected to an earlier dispute. The encounter escalated into a coordinated attack outside a villa.
Sources agree that Adnan was killed and three friends were injured, including through exposure to acid or another corrosive substance. They also agree that weapons had been brought to the confrontation. Crime by Region does not reproduce the more graphic descriptions contained in some court reports.
There is a minor chronology conflict in contemporary coverage. Emirates 24|7 dated the planned attack to March 13, 2015, while other UAE reports refer more generally to March 2015 and later coverage gives inconsistent wording for the exact day. Investigation and prosecution
Dubai authorities arrested suspects shortly after the killing and prosecutors pursued charges including premeditated murder and assault. Early reporting described multiple defendants, including brothers and friends, but frequently identified them only by initials or not at all. This page follows that limitation rather than reconstructing identities from incomplete records.
The prosecution case was that the attack was planned. Court reporting said the group arrived with sharp weapons and corrosive liquid. Witnesses described trying to separate the men before the violence resumed. Later reporting also stated that one principal participant may initially have been looking for somebody else and that intoxication or drug use played a role in the confrontation. First-instance judgment
Dubai Criminal Court convicted five Emirati defendants of the killing. Contemporary coverage reported that all five initially received life sentences. The verdict treated the fatal assault as premeditated murder and also addressed the injuries to Adnan's companions.

Appeal and final cassation ruling
On appeal, Dubai Court of Appeal upheld life imprisonment for four defendants but reduced the fifth defendant's punishment to three years. The appellate record distinguished that fifth defendant's legal responsibility from that of the four men whose life terms remained in place.
