Fred and Rose West

Fred and Rose West murdered at least twelve young women, including members of their own family, at their home in Gloucester, England, between 1967 and 1987. Most of the victims' remains were buried at the property, which later became known in the press as the "House of Horrors."

Discovery

The couple came under police scrutiny after their daughter alleged years of abuse. A search of the property in 1994 led to the discovery of buried remains, ultimately uncovering the extent of the killings.

Trial

Fred West died by suicide in custody in January 1995 while awaiting trial, jointly charged with twelve murders. Rose West stood trial alone and was convicted on ten counts of murder in November 1995.

Sentence and current status

Rose West was sentenced to life imprisonment with a "whole life order," meaning she will never be eligible for parole. She remains incarcerated in England and has consistently maintained her innocence.
