The Femicide of Cecilia Strzyzowski
Cecilia Strzyzowski, 28, disappeared after entering a family residence in Resistencia on June 2, 2023. Her remains have not been recovered, but a jury convicted César Sena as the author of her aggravated homicide and found his parents, Emerenciano Sena and Marcela Acuña, criminally responsible as primary participants. All three received life sentences in February 2026.
Cecilia Strzyzowski disappeared in Resistencia, Chaco, on June 2, 2023. The investigation developed into a no-body homicide prosecution: prosecutors relied on surveillance material, digital and location evidence, witness testimony and physical evidence to argue that Cecilia entered the Sena family home and was killed there. A popular jury ultimately accepted the core prosecution case.
Cecilia's disappearance
Cecilia was 28 and was in a relationship with César Sena. She was last seen alive on June 2, 2023. Investigators focused on the Sena family residence in Resistencia after reconstructing movements around the property and reviewing evidence collected during the investigation.
Her remains have never been recovered. That unresolved physical fact is stated plainly, but it does not erase the later jury verdicts. Argentina's courts were asked to determine criminal responsibility from the evidence presented at trial even without a recovered body.
The prosecution theory and the jury
The prosecution alleged that Cecilia was killed inside the residence and that César Sena was the principal author. His parents, Emerenciano Sena and Marcela Acuña, were prosecuted as primary participants. The defense disputed those allegations and sought acquittals or lesser findings.
On November 15, 2025, after a lengthy jury trial in Chaco, the jury found César Sena criminally responsible for homicide aggravated by the relationship and by gender violence. Emerenciano Sena and Marcela Acuña were found criminally responsible as primary participants in the same aggravated homicide.
Separate findings for the other defendants
The verdict did not treat every defendant alike. Other people were convicted of concealment-related offenses. Griselda Reinoso was acquitted. Her acquittal is preserved here because association with a family or investigation is not a substitute for a guilty verdict.
Life sentences in 2026
On February 10, 2026, Judge Dolly Fernández imposed life imprisonment on César Sena, Emerenciano Sena and Marcela Acuña. Official Chaco government reporting days later described the process as having culminated in the three life sentences.
Reporting in May and June 2026 continued to describe the three as imprisoned under those sentences. The dossier therefore classifies the case as solved/adjudicated while avoiding the stronger claim that every possible post-trial challenge has been exhausted unless a source specifically establishes that.
César Sena is described as the convicted author because that was the jury's finding. Emerenciano Sena and Marcela Acuña are described as convicted primary participants, not as the direct killers. Griselda Reinoso is described as acquitted. The absence of recovered remains is not converted into speculation about their location.
A no-body conviction
This case is editorially significant because the central homicide verdict did not depend on recovering Cecilia's body. The jury evaluated the prosecution and defense evidence presented in court and returned guilty findings. Crime by Region reports that legal outcome while keeping the still-missing remains as a distinct unresolved question rather than conflating the two issues.
