These files document killings without final individual criminal convictions. Charges and committal orders are not treated as proof of guilt.
The archive contains one adjudicated case and one unresolved case. The Sankara case is marked solved or adjudicated with a boundary. A military tribunal heard evidence, acquitted three defendants and convicted eleven. Blaise Compaoré, Hyacinthe Kafando and Gilbert Diendéré received life sentences, but Compaoré and Kafando were tried while absent.

On 15 October 1987, Thomas Sankara and twelve companions were killed during a coup. The 2022 tribunal found eleven of fourteen defendants guilty and imposed sentences ranging from three years to life imprisonment.
The archive does not treat an in-absentia sentence as proof of custody or enforcement. It also does not turn political theories, foreign-involvement claims or responsibility beyond the named defendants into established fact.
